But it’s a good tool to help optimize your New Media Marketing too by seeing what keywords are popular in paid listings.

    2. WordTracker’s new keyword selection tool

    If you’re a coaching client or in the live BLOG 360 coaching program, you know WordTracker is our favorite tool for doing in-depth keyword research. Only hitch is, it’s not a free service.

    Well now WordTracker has released a free keyword selection tool. The results in the tests we ran are quite different than what you’ll get in Overture, which means you’ll get a wider spectrum of top keywords to use in your business blogging and New Media Marketing.

    3. Keyword Fisher

    A totally different twist here with this tool. Where Overture and WordTracker’s free keyword selection tools focus on terms people are searching for, Keyword Fisher collects the keywords your competition is focusing on and tallies them up for you in a report.

    Once data collection is complete you’ll have a comprehensive list of keywords and phrases that your competitors have spent their time and money to research!

    Now this is not always the most accurate way to select killer keywords for yourself. But it is valuable because it allows you to look at your keyword list from another angle. At the very least, it opens your eyes to other possibilities to test.

New Media Marketing with the BLOG interactive 360 program

Back on March 28 of 2006 I revealed in the Advanced Business Blogging post “Podcasting for Business?” a prime example of how you market with New Media. I went out on a ledge and boldly predicted that Kent and Doug from AskANinja.com would prove that New Media is one of the most powerful ways to build a massive (and active) list.

Here’s a quick update on how they’re doing, and what you can learn about online marketing with New Media and Online Persuasion from their efforts over the last year.

First, a quick revisit of my predictions for this New Media Marketing project in early 06′

In that article I stated:

The first post over at Ask A Ninja was 1/9/06, but the real consistency started with the 2/22/06 video. If they can maintain anywhere near the growth rate of their first 30-days — they’ll have a huge following before years’ end!

The 2/22/06 post (hosted with YouTube.com) showed 124 reads when I first started following their progress the first week of March. (It currently shows 218 reads, from new people visiting the archives.) But the most recent video made just three days ago has had already 1507 reads per YouTube’s stats. That’s over an 1100% growth rate, more than a 10-fold list growth in just 60-days since Ask A Ninja has been up online!

Now some may think that type of list growth may be unsustainable over the long term. But even if they can simply double their regular viewers each month, they’ll have more than 200,000 regular viewers and a huge subscriber list to promote their new movie to!

Now, here’s the update on their progress…

Since starting out last year AskANinja has:

    - Redesigned their web site for a cleaner user interface

    This focuses the first time visitor on what’s most important. That is emotionally connecting with the Ninja, and joining the membership side.

    - Added a free and very active membership area

    This builds a sense of community and creates an atmosphere where social proof is naturally built up around the AskANinja brand. Of course, it also creates a fully segmented prospect list as well. :)

    - Created the Ninja Mart Store

    T-shirts and other incidental products are offered to visitors and members. This is designed to deepen the bond with the AskANinja community, strengthen the connection with the brand, and of course — make it easier to later step members and regular viewers into bigger ticket purchases.

    - Released their first DVD

    This first release simply brings together back episodes of the AskANinja series. “Why would anyone pay for something they can get for free?” you may ask.

    One word — convenience!

    All the time consuming searching, organizing, and downloading in multiple formats has been done for the customer. They know how, where, and why their customers watch episodes, and they give them all they want in one simple package.

In terms of traffic (all generated for free) coming from this New Media Marketing effort…

… the most recent installment of AskANinja shown below has 94,169 views since being posted at 8pm 10-days ago on January 12. (* Just in the time it took to write this post the number of views jumped 165 from 94, 004 to 94,169.)

And every view promotes their new DVD. Previous to the release of the DVD the promo embedded in each episode just as powerfully (and effectively) influenced people to go the Ninja Mart Store. Awesome monetization model!

There are many ways business blogs put your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on autopilot, and the ability to ping search engine servers every time you post new content is one of them. Quite a few people just starting out blogging for their business miss out on this painless optimization technique because they don’t know what it means to “ping their new blog content.” So here’s a quick, simple explanation…

Pinging” your blog is simply letting the RSS and blog-specific search engines know that you have new content on your blog. Pinging your new blog content allows instant indexing of your new content by these directories. With a normal website, you post new content and you wait for the search engine spiders to come in to crawl your site to index new content (which can take from 48-hours to a week or more to happen.)

Best thing about pinging is that WordPress can take care of this automatically for you every time you publish new content live to the web. Although you can access the update list at WordPress.org, here it is for your convenience: (more…)

If you’re a student in the current LIVE Secrets of Marketing with New Media, you know the BLOG 360 system goes wayyyyy beyond the basic business blog. And you know that everything you do with the BLOG 360 system is exponentially multiplied and leveraged with the single click of a button.

But even if you’re starting out marketing with New Media on your own, or if you’re using business blogs to market online there is one blog optimization key you need to remember for both top search engine rankings and high traffic…

Your blog will rank you by the way you write

And that applies whether you’re posting the written word, audio or video podcasts, or even simple images. The search engines will only index what you publish. You must know your niche, know your keywords and publish information that informs your market niche and answers their need.

When your blog comes up in the search results for your keywords, make sure your blog content delivers the solution. When you target your keywords, avoid the fluff and deliver value.

There are trafffic-generating keyword opportunities hidden within your own content
Your blog will simply and naturally pull in traffic from many places you hadn’t even thought about. Sometimes there will be (keyword) opportunities that were hidden within your own content all the time. You just didn’t see what the search engines saw until people started searching for a natural search phrase that just happened to be in your content.

Even without advanced tracking software you can review your server logs and monitor the keyword phrases that are bringing traffic to your business blog. When you see this happening for keyword phrases on a regular basis, it means there is a possible opportunity worth exploring. Blogs have a way of highlighting opportunities for free traffic streams because of how organic indexing works.

You don’t have to work hard at trying to manipulate the process. You simply have to know your target audience, know your keywords, and work at developing great content. As simple as that is, many blogging evangelists and business bloggers forget this fact.

“Content is king” sounds noble, but you’re not playing with New Media and business blogs

You’re marketing with New Media and business blogs!

Leave the esoteric, “free-flowing content crap” to the narrow minded blogging evangelists. And leave the black hat SEO and in-your-face interruption marketing using blogs to the Internet marketing gurus. Your job (if you’re to be successful) in New Media marketing is to find your groove and walk tall in the green area between the two. (Green because of the cash! :) )
