When you want to get the most out of your New Media marketing, it’s often a good idea to see what’s already on the mind of the public already. If there’s something causing a buzz and it’s related to your niche, or if you can use it to engage your Tribe, you want to know about it.

Google just launched a handy new module for iGoogle that helps. If you already have a Google account, you can grab the trends module here. And if you don’t have iGoogle, you can get an account for free here.

With a few quick clicks you can scan the top searches, news stories, images, videos, and top sites.

Remember when you were in high school. You’d make claim and have a friend (or nemesis) answer with “Prove it.” Well that’s the way I felt the other day when I was talking about link building and New Media marketing with a friend who is a successful internet marketing guru.

He was bragging about how cheap he could buy inbound links to boost his page rank. I argued that marketing with New Media, business blogs in particular, was more effective and a better value when it comes to generating a constant flow of targeted traffic AND top search engine rankings. Especially for the average business owner or marketer who doesn’t have tens of thousands of dollars to “pay” for links.

I’ve decided to share part of our conversation because it was really eye-opening, both for him and the coaching group I shared it with yesterday.

Before we get to the “proof” though, let me take a minute and explain why inbound links are so important to your online marketing.

Why inbound links to your site are so valuable?

It’s simple. Get enough one way, targeted, high PR back links and you will rank for any keyword. That’s why marketers spend fortunes buying links. Because links make your site rank, and rankings bring you traffic.

Everyday, millions of dollars are spent on the internet. People buy things, they buy services, memberships, they become leads for a new mortgage, they fill out forms, click ads… Hundreds of millions of dollars worth…

And who is making this money?

The people on top. The sites that are getting found by searchers are taking that money home. The ones that aren’t getting found are getting nothing.

And that is just normal links. Links that don’t carry any type of endorsement or limited niche filtering.

Graduates of our Pushbutton Persuasion™ program have been able to make connections that have a major impact on their traffic, prospect subscriptions, and sales. We’ve shown them how to go way beyond the conventional benefits of Page Rank and search engine optimization.

Once you understand how to connect with and persuade the Tribal leaders who have influence over hundreds, thousands, or tens-of-thousands of passionate followers, you’ll be able to get both passionate fans and links — for free!

So what are normal links worth?

The fact is, (more…)

If it weren’t for New Media, you’d never hear about this. For years we’ve been carpet bombed with warnings of impending doom due to global warming induced by human beings. Fear, fanaticism, and mass media terror have been the result. But what if what we’re being force fed were not only inaccurate, but actually lies and distortions?

The film “The Great Global Warming Swindle“, originally aired on BBC, now is distributed using the New Media Channel Google Video. It lays out the case that it is not CO2 emissions that are causing global warming, but actually the reverse that is true. The film makers show that the “scientific data” presented by Al Gore in his film “An Inconvenient Truth” is quite possibly science fiction.

In the film The Great Global Warming Swindle, you will not find emotional manipulation or fear tactics. I was surprised by the relative calm and matter-of-fact attitude of the people who were interviewed. Especially when compared side-by-side with “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Independent thinking individuals like you will notice the same thing. As afficianado of New Media Marketing this should be no surprise since you know that emotion is the main driver behind persuasion, online and offline.

The full movie

The the full length film is split into 8-parts on YouTube. Each part is about 9-minutes. (Note: The single, full length video that was on Google video has vanished so I’ve updated the links with the series from YouTube.)

Here’s part one:

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 2

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 3

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 4

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 5

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 6

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 7

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Part 8

Final thoughts

Nearly every day we’re told that WE are the cause of global warming. But you’re intelligent enough to know that the mass media, politicians, and special interest groups rely on tragedies and horrible events to get your attention.

So knowing that, is it possible that what we’re being fed as “scientific fact”, is really science fiction? And is it possible that the proselytizing of the global warming “message” is really promoted by those groups who benefit most monetarily and politically?

It’s up to you to decide. Will you be swept up in a mass movement? Or will you think for yourself? I have faith that you will chose the later. :)

Marketing with New Media is more than business blogging. Much more! But what’s a busy business person like you supposed to do if you aren’t ready to start Podcasting. Or what if you just don’t have the time to create Podcasts as a New Media marketing channel. Well, there are ways for you to stop missing out on exposure to tens of millions of people.

Have you seen pictures of the Parthenon in Greece? Built 400 years before Christ, it still stands today. Have you ever thought how that’s possible? How a structure can stand for over 2400 years? It’s a testament to the wise combination of engineering, materials, and strategy.

Like the Parthenon, your New Media Marketing strategy has major and minor pillars. (or it should! :) )

Four New Media Marketing Pillars

The four main pillars are; blogs, Podcasts, social networks, and online video. And each of these has numerous supporting pillars as well.

The point is, if you fell for the hype that you can throw up a blog for your business and you’re going to gather a Tribe of raving fans who are hungry for your products or services — you probably already realize that you’re in for major disappointment.

When you create a New Media Marketing strategy using multiple pillars you’ve got stability. And you’ve got multiple channels to gather a Tribe on your front lawn.

Audio Podcasting — essentially creating your own online radio station — is a main pillar for two reasons.

The practical; people don’t want to sit in front of their computer all day.

The psychological; a large percentage of people prefer to listen instead of reading or watching. Fail to provide them the channel they prefer and you’ll fail to keep them around.

Podcasting made easy

Now, if you want to succeed in maximizing the reach of your message without creating a persona and shtick for your Podcast — you can auto-Podcast. It’s simple and completely painless.

All you need is (more…)

Ok, I’m back on track now with my New Media Mindfreak for Friday’s. Now, jsut a reminder. Not every one of these will “appear” to apply to marketing with New Media. But these Mindfreaks will always use some type of New Media. And there will always be a way, if you look hard enough, to imagine how these funnny, freaky, or jsut wacked out things could be used for branding or promotion.

Here’s this week’s New Media Mindfreak. I didn’t think it was real at first, but after replaying it a half a dozen times — it sure looks that way to me.

Granny’s got some power behind her swing huh!? :)

Think it’s for real?

What about how this New Media video could be used to market? Maybe not your biz, but what could it be used for? Mindfreak exercises build your money-making muscles, so think! (and share!)

Make it a ‘freakin’ good weekend! :)
